Four in a row for Diamond Offshore Inc.

During 2010 all five FAIRMOUNT CLASS 200tbp tugs, where involved in towing operations for Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc.

The first one was FAIRMOUNT SHERPA. She was contracted to tow the semisubmersible drilling rig OCEAN COURAGE from Fourchon, USA to Aracaju, Brazil. The transit of the OCEAN COURAGE, which was fully loaded and therefore deep drafted, was still executed with an average speed of 3.4 knots.

Secondly, FAIRMOUNT SUMMIT was contracted to tow the semisubmersible drilling rig OCEAN VALOR from Singapore to Macae, Brazil. FAIRMOUNT SUMMIT was contracted to ensure a speedy transit and safe passage around Cape of Good Hope. A general average speed of 5.3 knots, including bunker stops was achieved.

The third contract involved FAIRMOUNT GLACIER and FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION. They were contracted for the towage of the semisubmersible drilling rig OCEAN BARONES from Fourchon, USA to Macae, Brazil. Their performance during this voyage, covering 5430 Nautical Miles, exceeded all expectations. Instead of the calculated 64 days the FAIRMOUNT CLASS tugs towed her with a very impressive speed, resulting in a transit time of only 50 days, including one bunker stop.

Fourthly, FAIRMOUNT GLACIER and FAIRMOUNT ALPINE, were contracted to tow the semisubmersible drilling rig OCEAN ENDEAVOR from Galveston, USA to Gibraltar. This voyage was also successfully completed and, more importantly, on time. Quite an achievement considering the fact that it was executed during the hurricane season on the North Atlantic and as a result several deviations had to be made to safeguard the tow.

The tremendous results of four different types of towages for Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc, show that the FAIRMOUNT CLASS tugs are capable of making every tow operation a success story.
